Birthday cookies...

I do not get too excited about much. Holidays are alright, and even my own birthday I do not care too much about. I am bound and determined though for my kids to always have a VERY special day (to the dismay of my husband) on THEIR day.  Little Spooner is 2 years old now and today we had her big family birthday. The party had a Very Hungry Caterpillar theme. I put in a lot of effort to this one. Auntie Cole also helped a TON by helping decorating these cookies.

Recipe for these amazing cookies (taste just like Cookies by Design)
Shaped and deocrated just like the hungry caterpillar's face. Then you might notice part of this from a previous post...
This part was simple. Just a few balloons, colored scrapbook paper,  and the lovely banner I made the other day. Little Spooner was awake for most of the set-up this morning, but this was not done until she went to sleep for her early nap, and when she woke up the joy was priceless. It makes all the stress and planning so worth it. Up next is the food spread,

This was not the completed version by anymeans, but it seems that no photo turned out/was taken when it was completed. We did not want to do a lunch time party, so we did a 2pm party (perfectly planned after nap times). For food we did pretzels, chips, fruit kebabs (courtesy of Nana and Aunti Cole), "caterpillar food" which consisted of GIANT marshmallows and M&M's, cake, cupcakes, hummus, a veggie tray and little cocktail franks. The cake was delish as well.

Just used boxed white cake (using white cake is imperative), and divided the batter into 3 bowls, and added food coloring. Baked only for 12 mins at suggested temperature.

Mother Goose!! The kids loved her, and she did such a wonderful job keeping the kids attention with stories, songs and instruments. All in all, it was a fabulous day and I hope Little Spooner had a great day as well. So hard to believe that another year has come and gone. It was soo nice to be with our families for her birthday this year. I know all the hard work was worth it to see the smile on her face- Mommy Spooner
