"Water For Elephants" by Sara Gruen

This is a great book that I just finished reading last night.  It was not the typical "chick-lit" book that I usually love to read, but as a RN who works with numerous elderly, many of whom have fascinating stories of their pasts, I found this tale very intriguing. It delves into the lifestyle of "circus folk", and it flips back and forth from the present (a 90 something year old man who is living in a nursing home) to the past (a small portion of the old mans younger self and the few months he spent on a circus crew/train).  It was not that I couldn't put it down, but it was a nice way to lay down and relax for an hour or so at night before bed.  The author definitely put a lot of effort into researching circus life in the early 1900's.  It was a nice escape from the realities of my day. Next up... The Art of Racing in The Rain by Garth Stein
